President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to defeating terrorism and tackling insecurity across the country.
The President gave the assurance on Friday during a one-day working visit and town hall meeting in Yenagoa, where he commissioned several key infrastructure projects, including a 60-megawatt gas turbine.
Addressing residents and stakeholders, Tinubu reaffirmed his government’s resolve to strengthen the nation’s security architecture through continuous training and capacity building of security personnel.
“We will work hard, we will continue to train our men and women. We will defeat terrorism and banditry,” he declared.
The President emphasised that governance must translate into tangible benefits for citizens, noting that Nigerians deserve to see the dividends of democracy through improved infrastructure, economic opportunities, and social welfare.
“We believe that the people deserve to see governance translated into roads, bridges, power, jobs, and real opportunities that affect human beings,” he said.
Tinubu also stressed the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments in driving development, noting that the projects commissioned in Bayelsa reflect the gains of such partnerships.
He commended Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, for what he described as purposeful leadership and commitment to development, pledging continued federal support to accelerate growth in the Niger Delta region.
The President further assured that his administration would continue to pursue policies aimed at easing economic hardship, acknowledging concerns over rising fuel prices and the cost of living.

“We will continue to find ways to ameliorate the suffering of the vulnerable. This is a government that cares,” Tinubu said, adding that transparency and honesty remain central to his administration’s approach.
Earlier, Governor Diri expressed appreciation to the President for commissioning the projects and supporting key development initiatives in the state.
He noted that federal government policies, particularly in the power sector, had enabled the state to deliver its independent energy project, while highlighting other landmark projects, including the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge and key senatorial road networks.
Diri said the projects would boost economic activities, reduce travel time, and improve connectivity across several communities, adding that Bayelsa remains committed to aligning with federal initiatives, particularly in the development of the blue economy.
The visit underscored growing collaboration between the federal and state governments, with both leaders reiterating their commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and improved living standards for Nigerians.
