The Obidient Movement has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of political persecution following the interrogation of two of its members over alleged naira abuse.
The supporters, Peter Akah, popularly known as Peter for Nigeria, and Oruche Precious, also known as Mama Pee, were questioned in Abuja on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as part of an investigation into alleged violations involving the naira.
Both were released in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, after hours of interrogation but were directed to return as the investigation continues.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the movement alleged that the probe was aimed at intimidating supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi rather than enforcing the law impartially.

It argued that the EFCC was selectively pursuing opposition figures while neglecting more significant corruption allegations involving politically exposed persons.
The group also alleged that some politicians evade scrutiny after joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reaffirming its support for the two activists, the movement urged the anti-graft agency to carry out its mandate without political bias.
Counsel to the pair, human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, said the investigation stemmed from alleged naira abuse.
He added that his clients told investigators the items under scrutiny were props used for content creation and not genuine naira notes.
