Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday announced his support for the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, while also endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term and backing Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate in Rivers State.
The governor made the declaration during the groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project held in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
In remarks captured in a video that later surfaced online, Fubara said the political crisis in Rivers had been resolved and confirmed that he had reunited with his former political camp led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
“We have made peace in the state, and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor said.
He declared that President Tinubu remained the political camp’s choice for the 2027 presidential election.
“President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is our president, and he is the one we are supporting,” Fubara stated.
The governor also threw his weight behind Chinda, saying he expected his supporters to support all candidates presented by the coalition.
“Oke Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate that is under the rainbow,” he added.
Fubara urged his loyalists not to delay joining the coalition in anticipation of political appointments or personal benefits, insisting that he had already returned to the political family.
“There is nothing to collect. I am already in the family. I have gone back to our family. So wherever you are, give your total support to that coalition,” he said.
He stressed that the period of political confrontation in the state had ended and called for unity and reconciliation.

“The time of war is over; it is time for peace, and this peace is taking us to another level,” the governor said.
Fubara further warned supporters against using his name to promote political activities outside the coalition, saying he would not be associated with any movement capable of causing disunity in Rivers State.
“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. I have done what I need to do. For now, we are moving forward,” he said.
The governor’s declaration comes months after he withdrew from the APC primaries in May 2026 following consultations and what he described as deep reflection.
His withdrawal followed a public reconciliation with Wike after months of political tension that sharply divided Rivers State.
The Rainbow Coalition is a cross-party alliance involving APC loyalists, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, and other political groups aligned with President Tinubu.
