The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants after the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The development was announced on Wednesday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, in a statement made available through the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the promotions form part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and underscore the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ezeh explained that the promotion examinations for senior officers were held between July 1 and 3, while junior officers sat for theirs on July 10.
He commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to conduct the exercise successfully and revealed that the minister had directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible workers are advanced without delay.
According to him, the directive reflects the administration’s determination to ensure that career progression keeps pace with the massive infrastructure development taking place across the Federal Capital Territory.

“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory,” Ezeh said.
He noted that the decision would allow civil servants to share in the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration while boosting morale and productivity within the service.
The commission chairman also praised FCT workers for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged those preparing for the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
He further acknowledged the cooperation of the Joint Union Action Committee, describing its support as instrumental to the smooth conduct of the promotion process.
Ezeh advised prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotions in the FCT Civil Service remain merit-based, competitive and subject to available vacancies.
