President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointments of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Director-General, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, and News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Managing Director, Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.

The renewal was announced on Sunday, August 23, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The new terms take effect on October 20, 2026.

Tinubu appointed both executives on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, from Yola, Adamawa State, joined NTA as an announcer in Kaduna in 1989 after his National Youth Service. He later served as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano before retiring in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the Kaduna Network Centre. He subsequently served as NTA Executive Director of Marketing and was National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).

Ali is a veteran journalist and media manager with more than 30 years’ experience. He holds degrees in English and International Affairs from Bayero University, Kano, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, respectively, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University.

Tinubu urged both executives to justify his confidence in them by advancing the mandates of NTA and NAN and supporting his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The renewal extends Dembos’ tenure after his brief removal and reinstatement in 2025, when the Federal Government reversed the appointment of Rotimi Pedro as NTA Director-General and returned Dembos to office.
