The Federal Government says 65 Nigerians will return from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, under a privately funded arrangement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Tuesday, August 25, said the returnees would depart Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, at 3:30 p.m. local time aboard a South African Airways flight.
They are expected at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:45 p.m. the same day.
The ministry said private individuals are sponsoring the return and commended them and other stakeholders supporting the exercise.

It added that relevant government agencies would coordinate the operation to ensure the Nigerians return safely.
The latest flight comes a week after 83 Nigerians returned from South Africa under a similar privately sponsored arrangement.
The returns follow the Federal Government’s voluntary evacuation exercise, which brought 1,490 Nigerians home in seven batches between June 11 and July 15, 2026, amid concerns over xenophobic attacks and the safety of Nigerians in South Africa.
The ministry did not disclose the individual circumstances of the 65 returnees or the identities of their sponsors.
