One person was killed and two others rescued after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition collapsed in Aboru, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Thursday.
The building, located at No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, collapsed in the early hours of September 10, 2026, trapping workers under the debris.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its Alpha Eagle Response Team was deployed from the Cappa, Oshodi Response Unit at 12:56 a.m. after receiving a distress call.
Two adult males were pulled from the rubble alive and given first aid before LASAMBUS transported them to a nearby health facility.
An adult male was also recovered dead.

LASEMA said it coordinated the rescue with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS, while security agencies and community leaders assisted at the scene.
The site was cordoned off to protect residents and facilitate the operation.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, urged developers and property owners to comply with building regulations and use certified professionals for demolition and construction.
He also urged residents to report unsafe building activities through the emergency numbers 767 and 112.
The collapse comes less than three months after a June 25, 2026 building collapse in Lagos that killed nine people and left 27 others rescued.
LASEMA said the state government would continue investing in equipment, personnel and decentralized response units to strengthen emergency response and sustain a 10-minute response target across Lagos.
