Three people have been confirmed dead while 12 others were rescued after a three-storey mixed-use building collapsed at OGS Bus Stop, Baale Road, Ajuwon, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The victims were an adult woman, a baby girl and a 75-year-old man.
The building collapsed on Monday, July 27, 2026, trapping several occupants beneath the rubble and triggering a joint rescue operation involving emergency agencies from Ogun and Lagos states.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the casualty figures on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after deploying its specialised rescue team and heavy-duty equipment at the request of the Ogun State Government.
The operation involved the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ogun State Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) and other responders.

LASEMA said 12 occupants were rescued alive, while search and recovery operations continued to determine whether more victims remained trapped.
The agency also said an adjoining bungalow was structurally compromised by the collapse and had been marked for safety measures to prevent further danger.
The incident came barely 24 hours after the collapse of the three-storey Elite Five Star Lodge, a student hostel in Amaokpala, near Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday night.
The hostel collapse prompted a multi-agency rescue operation before the Anambra State Government sealed the building over suspected structural defects, further highlighting growing concerns over compliance with building standards nationwide.
The cause of the Ajuwon collapse has yet to be established, with investigations expected after rescue operations are concluded.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, urged residents to stay clear of the site to allow rescue teams unrestricted access and called on developers and property owners to comply strictly with building regulations and carry out routine structural integrity assessments.
