Falconets Thrash New Caledonia 10-1 To Reach U20 World Cup Knockout Stage

Nigeria’s Falconets delivered a stunning attacking display as they demolished New Caledonia 10-1 in their final Group F match at the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.

The Nigerian side wasted little time asserting their dominance, racing into a 4-0 lead before half-time on Sunday.

Ramotalahi Kareem opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute before Rebecca Adegbemile doubled Nigeria’s advantage two minutes later.

Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromowei added a third in the 23rd minute, while Kareem completed her brace in the 27th minute to send the Falconets into the break with a commanding lead.

Nigeria continued their relentless attacking performance after the restart, adding six more goals to complete a 10-1 victory over New Caledonia.

The emphatic result sealed Nigeria’s passage to the knockout stage of the tournament as one of the teams advancing from Group F.

In the other group fixture, Spain defeated China 3-0 to finish top of the group.

Nigeria finished second with four points, the same tally as China, but advanced ahead of the Asian side on goal difference.

The Falconets’ emphatic victory therefore proves decisive as Nigeria join Spain in progressing to the next stage of the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.
