Troops of Operation Hadin Kai intercepted more than N350 million linked to terrorist financiers during the tenure of the outgoing Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.
Abubakar disclosed this on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Joint Task Force North-East headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State, while briefing journalists ahead of his exit.
He assumed command on April 28, 2025, with a mandate to help restore security and socio-economic activities across the North-East.
According to him, more than 7,000 displaced families have returned to their ancestral communities, while over 3,000 people voluntarily returned from Cameroon.
Troops also discovered and safely detonated more than 300 explosive devices and captured 758 suspected terrorist logistics collaborators, he said.
Abubakar said improved security had enabled the return of the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp to Maiduguri after more than 13 years, as well as WAEC and NECO examinations in communities including Banki and Gwoza.

He added that reopened trade routes and markets had helped revive commercial activities in affected communities.
On counter-insurgency operations, the commander said troops neutralised more than 1,200 JAS and ISWAP fighters, including over 216 senior terrorist leaders.
They also recovered more than 500 assorted weapons and 25,000 rounds of ammunition, he said.
Abubakar attributed the recent rise in terrorist surrenders to sustained military pressure and non-kinetic measures facilitating the return of combatants to civilian life.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the military leadership and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for supporting the theatre’s operations.
Abubakar also credited the Borno Government with providing operational equipment, including mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, surveillance cameras and drones.
