The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The commission announced this on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu, Borno State. The EFCC urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to assist in locating him.
It directed members of the public to submit information at its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja.
The agency also provided its designated contact channels, including info@efcc.gov.ng, and advised the public to notify the police or other security agencies.
The EFCC did not disclose the nature or value of the property allegedly received by Maina, when the alleged offence occurred or the circumstances behind the declaration.
The development comes amid a separate N738.6m case pending against Maina before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.

Maina and Ann Igwe Olachi were arraigned in 2019 on nine counts involving the alleged receipt of funds linked to contracts purportedly awarded for the biometric enrolment of pensioners. Both pleaded not guilty.
The trial was still ongoing in 2026. In February, Justice Abubakar Kutigi warned that Maina’s bail could be revoked over delays in the proceedings.
The latest declaration is separate from Maina’s conviction in another money-laundering case involving more than N2bn.
The Federal High Court in Abuja convicted him and his company, Common Input Property and Investment Limited, in November 2021 on a 12-count charge and sentenced him to eight years in prison. The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in May 2023.
Maina had previously been declared wanted after failing to appear during the money-laundering trial. He was arrested in Niger Republic on November 30, 2020, and returned to Nigeria in December.
The Nigerian Correctional Service confirmed his release on February 25, 2025, following statutory remission. It said his sentence was calculated from October 25, 2019, the date of his arrest.
The EFCC’s latest notice did not say whether Maina had been arrested or whether fresh charges had been filed over the latest allegation.
