Sabinus Not Wanted, EFCC Slams Fake Poster

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has dismissed as fake a viral “wanted” poster featuring Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the EFCC took to its official social media page to stamp the circulated poster as “FAKE NEWS,” cautioning those behind it to stop spreading false information.

The agency’s post included a pointed warning: “Clout chaser, Stop this now!”

The doctored poster, which has circulated extensively on social media, falsely claimed that Sabinus 43, was wanted for obtaining money by false pretense.

It also listed a purported address at 13/14 Ligali Ayomide Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, and carried the EFCC logo in a design that closely mimicked the commission’s official wanted notices.

The anti-graft agency did not indicate whether it had identified the source of the falsified material or whether any investigation is ongoing.

Sabinus, who has gained popularity for his online comedy and skits, has not publicly responded to the circulation of the poster.

The EFCC has repeatedly urged the public to verify information from official sources before sharing it, emphasizing the importance of caution in the age of social media misinformation.
