President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, on his 72nd birthday, praising his contributions to the development of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Oyetola for his role in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda through his leadership of the ministry.
The President said Oyetola had continued to drive government policies aimed at harnessing the economic opportunities in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
He noted that several initiatives under Oyetola’s leadership had contributed to improving efficiency, attracting investment, generating employment and strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global maritime industry.
Tinubu also described the former Osun State governor as an experienced technocrat, administrator and patriot, while acknowledging his extensive background in public administration and governance.
Oyetola began his career in the insurance industry before joining public service as Chief of Staff to the Osun State governor. He later served as governor of the state.
Tinubu said: “Your years of service to our country as an insurance icon, public servant and political leader demonstrate your commitment to the development and prosperity of Nigeria.
As Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, you brought experience and dedication to the task of transforming our maritime sector into a major driver of economic growth, investment and employment.
“I commend your contributions to the Renewed Hope Agenda, and I encourage you to remain steadfast in the service of our nation.”
The President prayed for Oyetola to enjoy good health, wisdom and many more years of service to Nigeria and humanity.
Tinubu also celebrated Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, his Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, who marked her birthday on September 29, 2026.

He described Orelope-Adefulire as a committed public servant and advocate for development, commending her contributions to Nigeria’s efforts towards inclusive and sustainable development.
Tinubu particularly praised her work in promoting the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria, especially programmes focused on improving the welfare and living conditions of vulnerable people and communities.
“I commend Princess Orelope-Adefulire’s efforts in the creation of the Presidential Council on SDGs and other advocacy groups to accelerate Nigeria’s progress towards the achievement of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda with a focus on ‘Leaving No One Behind.’
“I believe she will continue to bring her experience, passion and commitment to bear in supporting the administration’s development agenda and Nigeria’s broader aspirations for sustainable growth. I wish her good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of purposeful service to our nation and humanity,” Tinubu further stated.
The President also extended birthday greetings to former Jigawa State Governor and former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.
Tinubu joined Badaru’s family, friends and associates in celebrating what he described as his record of public service, administrative experience and entrepreneurial achievements.
He recalled Badaru’s tenure as Jigawa governor between 2015 and 2023, highlighting his interventions in agriculture, infrastructure and social development.
The President also commended his service as Minister of Defence from August 2023 to December 2025, describing his tenure as one marked by patriotism and dedication to the country.
Tinubu described Badaru, the Sardaunan Ringim, as a man known for humility, discipline and enterprise, noting that he brought his experience as founder of the Talamiz Group into public service.
He further acknowledged Badaru’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, including his current position as Director-General of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign group.
Tinubu prayed for the former governor to enjoy many more years in good health, renewed strength and continued service to the nation.
