American rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over an alleged domestic violence incident.
Ross, 50, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, was arrested by Miami Beach police early Thursday, October 1, 2026, and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10am, according to Miami-Dade jail and court records.
He faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery count, both classified as domestic violence offences. The charges stem from an alleged August 28 incident.
During a bond hearing on Thursday, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer reviewed the arrest report and found probable cause for the case to proceed.
According to the report, the alleged victim told police that a dispute began after Ross saw an Instagram photograph in which she had been tagged. She alleged that he confronted her, slapped her and struck her several times before twisting her hoodie around her neck, restricting her breathing.
She further alleged that Ross pulled her by the ponytail and slammed her against a wall before striking her in the face and injuring her lip. She also accused him of pushing her to the floor and attempting to spray her with a showerhead.
Ross’ attorney, Bradley Horenstein, denied the allegations and maintained that his client is innocent.

The court barred Ross from contacting the alleged victim and ordered him to stay away from her home, workplace and school. He was also ordered to surrender firearms while the case is pending.
CBS Miami reported that bond was set at $5,000, while other reports have cited a $6,000 total based on a different breakdown of court records.
Ross’ arraignment is scheduled for October 22.
Arrest Follows Ex-Girlfriend’s Allegations
The arrest came days after Ross’ former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of physical abuse in Instagram posts published on September 26.
Kendrick alleged that Ross injured her lip during an incident before their relationship ended and shared photographs of the alleged injury.
Authorities have not identified Kendrick as the alleged victim in Ross’ criminal case, and no official link has been established between the two matters.
Ross remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
