Tinubu Performs Umrah, Seeks Divine Intervention For Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has prayed for Nigeria’s peace, security and national cohesion after performing the Islamic pilgrimage of Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Tinubu undertook the religious exercise at Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque, where he circumambulated the Holy Kaaba as part of the pilgrimage.

Speaking to journalists after completing the rites, the President expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to undertake the spiritual exercise, describing it as an occasion to renew his commitment to Nigeria and its people.

He said his prayers centred on the welfare of Nigerians and the country’s future, particularly peaceful coexistence, national stability and responsible leadership.

The President also sought divine intervention to help the country overcome insecurity and other challenges, while praying for wisdom for those in authority and stronger relationships among Nigerians across religious and social divides.

He expressed hope for sustained economic growth, social development and improved security, stressing the importance of creating a country where citizens can live safely and with dignity.

The pilgrimage marks Tinubu’s second publicly reported Umrah since assuming office in May 2023. He previously performed the religious exercise in November 2023, following his participation in the Saudi-Africa Summit held in Riyadh on November 10 and 11.

During that visit, he also prayed for Nigeria’s prosperity and sought divine guidance for his administration.

Tinubu departed Abuja for Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 29, 2026, ahead of the pilgrimage. He is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
