The returning directors are Abiodun Adeniji (Finance and Accounts), Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha (Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure) and Dr Mustapha Lamorde (Health, Safety, Environment and Community).

Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite their consideration, citing the need to ensure continuity and strengthen the Authority’s regulatory oversight.

The President also approved Jumoke Gafar’s appointment as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to statutory procedures under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021.

The nominations follow earlier changes to the agency’s leadership. Adeniji and Ukoha were confirmed as executive directors in October 2021, while Lamorde was among five directors confirmed in February 2022.

In April 2026, Tinubu nominated Rabiu Abdullahi Umar to replace Saidu Mohammed as NMDPRA chief executive. The Senate confirmed Umar’s appointment on May 7, 2026.

The NMDPRA regulates Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum operations, including processing, transportation, storage and distribution.
