Four people have been allegedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen that laid siege on Orile-Igbooro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
This came in less than 24 hours the state government announced the deployment of a special task force to communities under siege by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
It was gathered that several residents of the village, including children, sustained various injuries.
A member of the State House of Assembly, Haruna Egungbohun, had raised the alarm late Friday night, saying that the people of Orile-Igbooro, were under attack by supposed herdsmen, who were setting houses ablaze.
The lawmaker, representing Yewa North II State Constituency, said that the herders’ attacked the people of the community located along Oja-Oda-Eggua-Ijoun road.
He had said, ”Presently at Orile-Igbooro, Fulani herdsmen are attacking the people of the community.
“Orile-Igbooro is located along Oja Odan- Eggua- Ijoun road. Immediately after Iyana-meta by right side along Oja-Odan road. From Eggua road, immediately after Iyana-ibeku by the left side.
“They are burning the house and killing the villagers presently.” On Saturday, the lawmaker confirmed that four people were killed by the attackers.
He said, “We have recovered four dead bodies so far. We are still searching for others. Those who sustained injuries are many. We have not got any help from any security agency or government.”
Ogun State police Public Relation officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi was not reachable as of press time.
Recall that a youth group, under the auspices of Yewa North Patriotic Forum, had earlier on Friday issued Fulani herders seven days ultimatum to leave their land.
The ultimatum came barely 24 hours after suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly murdered five persons in Owode-Ketu, Egua in the council area.
