Lagos police commissioner deploys mobile policemen in prisons

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, on Wednesday, said the Command has deployed additional mobile policemen in correctional centres across the state.

The Lagos police boss disclosed when he received a delegation led by the new Controller of Correctional Service, Lagos, Comptroller Francis Adebisi, at the Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.

The Lagos CP’s decision to deploy the Mobile Police men to the prisons followed the attack on the Owerri Correctional Centre in Imo State, where over 1,884 inmates were set free by gunmen on Monday.

The gunmen also attacked the Imo State Police Command, razing several vehicles ablaze.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, however, shared a brief detail of the meeting on Twitter on Wednesday.

The PPRO tweeted, “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu presently playing a host to the new Controller of Correctional Service, Lagos, Comp Francis Adebisi, and his entourage, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja GRA. It’s in furtherance of the CPs plans to forestall attacks.”

Quoting the CP, he further tweeted, “I have deployed additional mobile policemen to the correctional centres in Lagos State.”
