Abe Affirms Wike As APC Leader In Rivers State

Senator Magnus Abe has openly affirmed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is the recognized leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, a move he said is aimed at strengthening cohesion within the party as preparations intensify for the Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II by-elections fixed for the 21st of February, 2026.

Abe made this position known on Monday, the 26th of January, 2026, during an interaction with journalists shortly after the conclusion of the APC primaries, which produced candidates aligned with the FCT Minister.

Speaking on the political structure of the party in the state, Abe said: “As far as Rivers State is concerned, the Minister of the FCT is the leader of the APC here.

“There is no confusion, and there is no dispute about the different roles people are playing. “I want to say to Rivers people: everybody should go and revalidate your membership.

“We are all working together, supporting President Tinubu, and Rivers State will deliver the highest percentage of votes for the Renewed Hope family in this country. “That is our commitment.”

He stressed that the party remains united and focused on mobilising its base to ensure victory in the forthcoming polls.

It was gathered that aspirants aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, clinched victory in the APC primaries conducted on Monday, the 26th of January.

The exercise was organised to nominate the party’s candidates for the by-elections slated to fill the vacant positions in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
