Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on Saturday suspended the traditional ruler of Umuosu Autonomous Community in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state, Eze Iheonye Simeon Ibezim.
This was revealed by a letter by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon J. C Nwanju.
According to the letter, the monarch was suspended over alleged high handedness, intimidation and insensitivity to the plight of his subjects.
He was also said to be manipulating the name of the autonomous community without the required process.
Part of the letter reads, “You (Ibezim) are advised to cooperate with the state as investigation is ongoing in the allegations leveled against you.”
Meanwhile, the state governor has approved the appointment of Chief Moses Ekwueme as Regent of Umuosu Autonomous Community until the conclusion of the ongoing investigation by the state government.
