Abia Halts Project Launch Over Buhari’s Death

Abia State has shifted the launch date for two major projects the Integrated Wash Accelerated Programme (AIWAP) and the rehabilitation of the Aba Regional Water Scheme which were initially slated for today, the 14th of July, 2025.

The state cited the nationwide public holiday announced by the Federal Government to mourn the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who is to be laid to rest today, the 14th of July.

In a press statement released at midnight, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, said both the launch and the flag-off will now take place on Wednesday, the 16th of July.

The government apologized for any inconvenience the date change may have caused.

Reacting to Buhari’s passing, Governor Alex Otti called it “sad news.”
