The Abia State Government has announced that it will hold an Abia Business Roundtable on Thursday, March 5, 2026, aimed at fostering collaboration between the government and the private sector.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a joint press conference at Government House, Umuahia, with Mr Chinedum Chijioke, Director-General and CEO of the Abia State Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotions Office.
Kanu said the high-level roundtable, which will be presided over by Governor Alex Otti at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, will provide a platform for government officials and business leaders to exchange ideas, discuss investment opportunities, and address issues affecting the business community in the state.
“The business roundtable will allow both parties to discuss matters of common interest, outline what the government has in place, and hear directly from the private sector on their needs,” Kanu stated.
Chijioke added that the initiative is part of efforts to create a structured platform for engagement, collaboration, and policy input from the business community.

He said participants would include business leaders from across the country representing enterprises of various sizes, with registration required for attendance.
He explained that the government seeks to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and described the roundtable as a first-of-its-kind initiative under the current administration, aimed at promoting economic development through active government–business dialogue.
Chijioke also highlighted the mandate of the PPP and Investment Promotions Office, noting its threefold role in investment promotion, facilitation, and aftercare advocacy, with the roundtable forming part of its aftercare and advocacy function.
