The Abia State government has officially resumed recognition of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) following the earlier suspension of its operations within the state.
Transport Commissioner Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu disclosed the development on Tuesday, the 15th of July, 2025, after a closed-door session with representatives of the NURTW from both the national and state chapters.
According to the commissioner, the decision aligns with the administration’s focus on fairness and improving Abia’s transportation framework. He reaffirmed Governor Alex Otti’s dedication to ensuring an efficient and orderly transport system for residents.
Speaking on behalf of the union, Deputy National Chairman Aliyu Isaa Ore conveyed the appreciation of the NURTW National President, Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), to the commissioner for lifting the embargo.
