Popular Nollywood actor, Ayoola Ayolola, has spoken up regarding his removal from the popular Nigerian series, ‘The Men’s Club’.
Contrary to what the production team said, the actor, on Tuesday, said that the producers were aware of his ‘temporary’ move out of the country.
The Men’s Club (TMC) is a story about love, friendship, and betrayal, which revolves around four male main characters and how they relate with their partners.
Ayoola is one of the main characters in the series and he played the role of Aminu Garba. However, his role has been taken over by reality TV star, Pere Egbi, as announced by the series director, Tolu Odunsi, on Monday.
While Odunsi said that “Ayoola is unavailable indefinitely to physically record with his co-TMC cast at location”, the scriptwriter, Dami Elebe, claimed the actor relocated without informing the production team.
“But it isn’t our fault. It’s not our fault that the actor relocated – without telling us if I may add – and I don’t want the people – including me – who are working hard to give an amazing show be made to feel bad by the fans we absolutely love and are doing our best for,” Elebe had said.
But Ayoola, speaking on the matter, faulted Elebe’s statement, asserting that his decision to temporarily leave the country was made known to the executive producers of the show.
A statement on Ayoola’s Instagram page read, “Hi everyone. Thank you for all the love and support. I appreciate you!
“I remain grateful to have been part of such an amazing show and I did not take any action to jeopardize its success.
“Contrary to what was said, I did not relocate without letting the executive producers and producers of the show know.
“My decision to make a ‘temporary’ move out of the country was a long thought out process in which the producer/my manager at the time was aware of and involved in.
“With that being said, I cannot wait to be back on your screens again.”
