Actress Kehinde Bankole Calls For Urgent Action To Tackle Rising Kidnappings

Award-winning Nollywood actress Kehinde Bankole has called on the Federal Government, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the country’s intelligence agencies to urgently deploy what she described as “full wrath and force” to curb the rising cases of kidnappings across Nigeria.

In a post shared on her social media page on Wednesday, the actress expressed frustration over what she described as the worsening insecurity situation, saying Nigerians are increasingly tired of “condolence speeches” and now expect decisive action to protect lives.

“It is no longer about why it is happening; it is now simply about lives! Lives are being lost! This should not be our new normal, children running for their lives in 2026! Oh God,” she wrote.

Bankole also responded to narratives suggesting that opposition groups or saboteurs may be behind the growing wave of abductions aimed at undermining the government.

She argued that even if such claims were true, they should push authorities to intensify their response rather than serve as an excuse for inaction.

She wrote, “Even if the kidnappings are a smear campaign on the government, it should be all the more reason for the Office of the National Security Advisor, along with the Presidency, to tackle insecurity with full wrath and force.

Find a way! No bigger political campaign. Tactically flush out their “saboteurs” if that exists. That should be the focus now.

They must make the National Intelligence Agency, the DSS, the Ministry of Defence, and security agencies work! Because enough is enough! The people are tired of condolence speeches and need only bigger action, “ she said.

The actress stressed that what Nigerians need is swift and concrete action, not repeated statements of sympathy from political leaders.

“Our cry is for something decisive to be done and to be done fast. They must put everyone to work! They must tactfully fish out who is causing this and find a way.

All hands have to be forced to be on deck! The people need only results, no more condolence speeches,” she wrote.

Her remarks come amid heightened public concern following the recent abduction of at least 25 pupils and seven teachers in Oyo State’s Ogbomoso area, an attack that also saw a mathematics teacher killed while in captivity.

Bankole’s comments add to a growing wave of public figures speaking out against insecurity and banditry in the country.

Recently, actress Opeyemi Aiyeola also urged politically influential celebrities and traditional rulers to pressure the federal government into taking urgent action against kidnappings and related violence.
