Adamawa Police Arrest 72 Suspects, Charge 57 to Court

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 72 suspects for various criminal offences in the past three months, with 57 of them already charged to court.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists at the state police headquarters in Yola. He said investigations are ongoing into the cases of the remaining 15 suspects, who will also be charged upon conclusion.

According to Morris, the suspects were arrested in connection with nine cases of kidnapping, seven armed robbery incidents, 22 culpable homicides, 18 rape and sexual offence cases, nine thefts, four cases involving the Shilla Boys gang, and three abductions.

Highlighting a significant case, the police commissioner recalled the rescue of 13 children abducted by traffickers and taken to Anambra State where they were sold. The children were successfully reunited with their families, while two women implicated in the crime were arrested and are currently facing prosecution.

Within the period under review, the Command also recovered seven stolen vehicles and 25 rustled cows.

Morris reiterated the police command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
