Adaramodu Criticises Nigerians Over E-Transmission Protests

The spokesman of the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, has criticised Nigerians who took to the streets over the issue of real-time electronic transmission of election results.

Adaramodu made the remarks on Tuesday, the 10th of February, 2026, while appearing on ‘Politics Today,’ a Channels Television programme, where he addressed the recent protest staged in Abuja.

Reports indicate that a group of Nigerians gathered at the National Assembly complex on Monday, the 9th of February, under the banner of the “Occupy National Assembly” movement to express dissatisfaction with the Senate’s rejection of e-transmission of election results.

Among those present at the demonstration were notable political figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi.

Responding to the protest, Adaramodu downplayed the action, suggesting that the demonstrators are habitual critics.

“Those people you saw on the street are always there, even for good things
“If you give them a road, they will say it is not wide enough. If you give them electricity, they will say the light is not bright enough.

“It’s the same people on the street, and they will continue to be there.”
