A member of the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress, Oladimeji Fabiyi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rushing out a timetable for the 2027 general elections at a time opposition parties are still struggling to organise themselves.
Fabiyi made the remarks on Thursday, the 5th of March, 2026, during a live appearance on Trust TV.
Recall that the electoral body had earlier unveiled the timetable and schedule for the 2027 polls.
INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, explained that the timetable was released in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act, 2022, as amended.
Reacting to the development, Fabiyi questioned the basis for the commission’s timeline and alleged that the move was designed to place opposition parties at a disadvantage.

He said, “INEC should tell us where they got the timetable from.
“They want to hoodwink us because they see that the opposition are yet to put themselves together. They just want to rush everything and I tell you that it will blow on their faces.
“There’s a lot of bottlenecks against the opposition. If the APC is sure that they have done well and Nigerians are with them, why do they want to kill the opposition and destroy democracy?”
