The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the passing of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso).
Rhodes-Vivour made the announcement in a post shared on his X account on Monday, describing his late mother as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and a woman whose life reflected love and compassion.
Expressing the family’s grief, he said they were saddened by her passing but grateful to God for a life he described as well lived.
“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso),” he wrote.
He added that she would be greatly missed and prayed for her soul to rest in perfect peace, noting that details of her funeral would be communicated in due course.
The announcement was signed on behalf of the family by his brother, Olawale Rhodes-Vivour.

In a memorial tribute released alongside the announcement, the family celebrated the late matriarch as a woman whose unwavering love and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone around her.
Describing her as a beloved wife, devoted mother and gentle spirit, the family said her love provided comfort and strength to those closest to her, adding that although she was no longer physically present, her memory would remain alive in their hearts.
The family also confirmed that funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
