ADC Holds National Convention In Abuja Amid Leadership Dispute

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday proceeded with its national convention at the Rainbow Event Centre in Area 8, Garki, Abuja, despite ongoing leadership challenges surrounding the camp of former Senate President, David Mark.

The party leadership opted to retain the scheduled date for the convention, even as a court is yet to deliver a ruling on the dispute over its leadership structure.

Sources within the party indicated that the decision to move ahead underscores the ADC’s determination to maintain internal processes and avoid further delays, despite uncertainties hanging over its hierarchy.

The convention, however, was not without logistical setbacks. Party officials alleged that they were denied access to major public venues in the Federal Capital Territory, including the Eagle Square and the Indoor Sports Complex—locations commonly used for large political gatherings and recently by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its own convention.

Despite these constraints, delegates and party stakeholders gathered at the alternative venue, signaling a show of resilience as the ADC seeks to navigate its internal crisis and reposition ahead of future political engagements.

The outcome of the pending court decision is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s leadership direction in the coming weeks.
