The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for holding a political meeting in Zamfara State, describing the move as insensitive to recent tragedies in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 24, by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party expressed outrage that PDP governors chose Zamfara as their meeting ground only days after dozens of residents were massacred by bandits
The statement read, “Instead of the governors to rally around their beleaguered colleague to help stop the orgy of killings, they chose to stage a political rally at the scene of mass murder, even if it meant trampling on the memory of the victims.”

The ADC argued that the meeting, which featured photo sessions of the governors in ceremonial attire, ignored the grief and suffering of bereaved families still reeling from the loss.
“The photos of PDP Governors in full ceremonial robes, grinning for the camera is totally out of place in an environment that still reeks of so much blood and sorrow,” Abdullahi said.
According to the party, such actions reinforce the perception that both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP are disconnected from the plight of ordinary Nigerians.
“This act alone further underlines an important fact: neither the ruling APC nor the incurably afflicted PDP care about the people and their suffering. They only care about power and politics,” the ADC declared.
