‘Adeleke Is Not Fubara,’ Momodu Replies Wike Over Osun Election Claim

Publisher and former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has criticised Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his claim that the All Progressives Congress could have won the Osun governorship election if President Bola Tinubu had wanted victory “at all costs.”

Momodu reacted in a statement posted on his official X handle, taking a swipe at Wike’s suggestion that his intervention could have delivered the election for the APC.

Responding directly to the minister, Momodu said Osun voters would have resisted any attempt to impose an electoral outcome on them, while drawing a comparison between Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and former Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

“OSUN people would have demystified you mercilessly. Adeleke is not Fubara!! My kobo advice, stop equating yourself to GOD…”

Momodu’s remarks followed Wike’s statement that he would have travelled to Osun to help the APC secure victory if Tinubu had wanted the party to win the election “at all costs.”

Wike had said, “If the President had wanted to win the Osun State election at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do.”

The minister’s comment came after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the August 15 election.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes, while African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.

Momodu’s reference to Fubara appears to draw on Wike’s political conflict with his successor in Rivers State, where tensions between the former governor and Fubara became a major political issue.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor, remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party but currently serves as FCT minister under the APC-led administration of President Tinubu.
