Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reportedly lost his voice after participating in praise and worship sessions and a night vigil following his victory in the just-concluded governorship election.
Adeleke’s Special Adviser and Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed this on Tuesday while responding to questions on the governor’s behalf during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
Rasheed said the governor had spent the past two days participating in praise and worship and a night vigil organised to celebrate and appreciate God following his re-election.
“For the past two days, we have been having a praise and worship and night vigil to thank God for His blessing and grace on the governor and the state,” Rasheed said.
According to him, the activities affected Adeleke’s voice, prompting his doctor to advise him to observe bed rest.
“And what we now have is that Governor Ademola Adeleke lost his voice, and the doctor also advised that he should have a bed rest. So, he will definitely come back. He will come and speak himself,” he added.
The development comes shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke secured re-election after defeating his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s election.
The governor’s victory triggered celebrations among his supporters across the state, with political allies and members of his administration continuing to congratulate him on his return to office.
Rasheed assured the public that Adeleke would return to address the people himself after recovering his voice and completing the recommended period of rest.
The governor’s absence from the interview was therefore attributed to his current condition following days of post-election thanksgiving activities rather than any political or administrative development.
