Adeleke Urges Osun Residents To Heal, Unite After Re-Election

Re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents to put the divisions of the governorship election behind them and unite towards building a greater state.

Adeleke made the call in a statement shared on his X account on Friday, following his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

The governor expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State for renewing his mandate, describing the outcome of the election as a collective victory.

He said he was humbled by the confidence reposed in him by the electorate and pledged to approach his second term with humility and a strong sense of responsibility.

“My dear people of Osun State, I am deeply humbled and grateful for the confidence you have reposed in me by re-electing me as your Governor,” Adeleke said.

The governor thanked traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, civil servants, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders, farmers and other residents who supported his administration and participated in the electoral process.

According to him, the result reflected the decision of the people to continue with his administration.

“This victory belongs to all of us, and I accept this renewed mandate with humility and a deep sense of responsibility,” he said.

Adeleke, however, acknowledged the tensions and violence that characterised the period leading to the election, remembering those who lost their lives in electoral-related incidents.

He expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, praying for comfort for those affected by the loss.

“As we celebrate, we also remember the victims of electoral violence before the election. My heartfelt condolences go to their families and loved ones.

May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those they left behind,” he said.

The governor urged residents to move beyond the political differences generated during the campaign and election period, stressing the need for collective effort in advancing the state.

He called on the people of Osun to focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening unity and working together for the development of the state.

“Together, let us heal, unite and continue building a greater Osun,” Adeleke added.

Adeleke’s call comes after a keenly contested election in which he secured a second term, defeating his major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor is expected to begin his second term amid expectations for continued development across sectors, while also working to reconcile political divisions that emerged during the election.

His appeal for healing and unity is also expected to set the tone for his administration as it prepares to consolidate its programmes and pursue further development across Osun State.
