ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE: LAGOS POLICE COMMISSIONER APPOINTS JUDICIAL LIAISON OFFICER

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Hekeem Odumosu , has appointed a Judicial Liaison Officer for the Command to work with the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria and other relevant Non-Governmental Organisations and agencies as well as Civil Liberty Organisations (CLOs) to promote smooth and prompt dispensation of justice in Lagos State.

The Command Commissioner of Police announced this on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Legal Aid  Council, South West Zone , led by Mrs Lateefat  Salawu, in his Ikeja office.

A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said Odumosu appointed the OC Legal, Lagos State Command, Superintendent Cardoso Yetunde, to liaise between the Council , agencies and the police to make sure the Human Rights Desk of the Command is active; and always expedite action on cases and matters related to Administration of Justice in the state. 

The state commissioner of police  assured the Council of his commitment to supporting its efforts on the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme(PDSS), which  provides enabling atmosphere for easy access to police facilities and suspects by designated members of the Council. 

In her response, the Zonal Director of the Legal Aid Council,  South West, Mrs Lateefat Salawu,  who was in company with the representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association,  Lagos State chapter, Mr. Okey Ilofulunwa, and European Union commended the police boss for his pro-activeness and spontaneous response  to issues and protection of lives and property. 

Mrs Salawu also promised that the council would work in partnership with the police to ensure prompt dispensation of justice to strengthen the Criminal Justice System in the state.
