The advocacy organization Turn Around Nigeria (TAN) has expressed strong support for the recent military intervention authorized by U.S. President Donald Trump against suspected terrorist cells in Northern Nigeria. The group’s endorsement comes amid a significant escalation in international counterterrorism efforts within the region.
In a press briefing on Friday, the 26th of December, 2025, TAN’s Secretary General, Chuks Ibegbu, lauded the strategic alliance between Washington and Abuja. The group highlighted the necessity of such high-level cooperation to restore stability and protect the lives of the vulnerable.
TAN praised President Trump for his decisive action in approving the airstrikes.
The group also commended the Nigerian government’s willingness to partner with American authorities to execute the offensive.
Ibegbu emphasized that TAN’s primary objective remains the cultivation of a secure and prosperous Nigeria, noting that this joint mission is a vital step toward “crushing their activities and liberating innocent citizens.”
Speaking from Umuahia, Ibegbu issued a stern statement to the media, decrying the current state of insecurity where non-state actors have displaced countless families from their ancestral lands.

“Terrorists and other criminal elements were sacking villagers and occupying their homes with impunity,” Ibegbu lamented.
He voiced optimism that the tide is turning, suggesting that a consistent air campaign would eventually dismantle the infrastructure of banditry and kidnapping that has plagued the North.
The TAN leadership concluded with a direct appeal to the Nigerian public and a sharp warning to those who fuel the insurgency. Ibegbu urged the nation to stand behind the international coalition to ensure the final defeat of extremist groups.
“All Nigerians should support the action of the United States. Sponsors of terrorism in the North should flee the country now, in their own interest,” Ibegbu warned.
