Bandits have again struck in Kaduna State, following after many recent raids on local communities.
Reports stated that no fewer than 22 residents of Anguwar Maji in Jere town along the Abuja-Kaduna highway were abducted by the bandits.
The latest incident occurred only a day after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, visited the road stretch and also deployed police operatives to safeguard the area.
Units deployed by the IGP include Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Forces (SF), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and the Special Tactical Squad (STS).
Lamenting the fate of the locals, a resident, Shehu Bala, recalled that armed bandits on Sunday abducted 22 villagers.
According to Bala, the incident occurred around 11 pm on Sunday.
He said the bandits, in a fell swoop, descended on the community and we’re clad in army uniforms.
He said the invaders moved from house to house, woke up their victims before they marched them into the bush at gunpoint.
Police authorities in Kaduna State could not be reached for reaction, at press time.
