Veteran forward Ahmed Musa has been recalled to the Super Eagles squad for the must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, marking his return to the national team after nearly a year out.
The 32-year-old, who is Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer at the World Cup, headlines a 39-man provisional squad released by head coach Eric Chelle.
His inclusion comes after he last featured for the team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he played no part on the pitch despite captaining the side to a second-place finish.
Musa, who plies his trade with Kano Pillars, will provide experience and leadership as the Super Eagles aim to revive their qualification hopes following a poor start to the campaign.

In line with his promise to give home-based players opportunities, Coach Chelle has handed invitations to several Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) stars.
Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rangers defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, and Papa Daniel Mustapha — formerly of Niger Tornadoes — are among the domestic league players included in the squad.
The Super Eagles will take on Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the upcoming international window as they look to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, jointly hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.
