AIG assures Lagos, Ogun residents of adequate security

Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Lagos and Ogun states, Ahmed Iliyasu, has assured residents of the two states of a hitch-free Id-El-Kabir celebration.

A statement signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, on Thursday, indicated that the AIG had spoken with the Commissioners of Police of the two states to be proactive in the discharge of their duties of protecting lives and property of residents in their states.

He added, “We have deployed officers and men of Anti-Kidnapping Units; Rapid Response Squad; States/Zonal Intelligence Bureau; Quick Intervention Unit; Explosive Ordinance Disposal; Special Anti-Robbery Squad; Counter-Terrorism Unit; Police Mobile Force.

“Others are Special Protection Unit, including Safer Highway Operatives and all Patrol and Guard Officers to beef up security around worship centres, market places, business plazas, highways, relaxation centres, amusement parks, motor parks, shopping malls, recreation centres, remote and rural areas to ensure adequate protection of lives and property.”

Meanwhile, the AIG on behalf of officers and men of the command, wishes all Muslims a happy and hitch-free Id-El-Kabir celebration, while reiterating his commitment to duties and ensuring a Nigeria Police of our dream.

He advised members of the public to observe all precautionary measures by the NCDC by observing social/physical distancing, wearing of face masks and regular hand-wash to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
