Joe Igbokwe, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has added his voice to the growing frustration over alleged extortion by domestic airlines.
Reacting to a recent confrontation between Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace, Igbokwe shared his own experience saying he too had been at the receiving end of similar treatment.
The incident unfolded on the 11th of June, 2025, when Oshiomhole and the airline clashed publicly.
The senator accused Air Peace of exploiting citizens, saying the airline deliberately blocked passengers with valid tickets from boarding.
According to Oshiomhole, despite checking in online, he and several others were barred from boarding a Lagos-to-Abuja flight.
He said passengers who had booked tickets online were sidelined, while those who paid extra for emergency boarding were cleared.

He described how he was personally denied access even with a valid ticket, stating:
“They denied me, somebody went in and ah it’s Oshiomhole, then the senior manager came out and said, ‘Oga, let’s see how I can sort you out.’ I said, ‘No, I don’t want personal favors.”
In a Facebook post reacting to the incident, Igbokwe described the practice as nothing new. He called it a “reoccurring decimal” and said he had also spoken publicly about a similar encounter he had on a trip to Enugu.
Quoting him: “We play too much in the country. What he, Adams Oshiomhole, discovered has been a recurring decimal for years now. I was once a victim because I made public my encounter with them on my trip to Enugu.”
