Airport Police Honors Fallen Officers During National Police Day

The Airport Police Command will mark National Police Day 2026 by honoring officers who lost their lives in service. The celebrations, under the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” aim to strengthen ties with the public and the aviation community.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Adeola, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said the event will include activities designed to engage the public and promote collaboration.

The schedule is set to begin on Monday, the 30th of March, with a sanitation and environmental cleanup.

A walkathon follows on Tuesday, the 31st March. On Wednesday, the 1st of April, the Command will conduct public sensitization campaigns targeting drivers and key stakeholders in the airport area.

Families of fallen officers will be honored on Thursday, the 2nd of April, with cheque presentations recognizing their sacrifices. The celebrations will conclude on Tuesday, the 7th of April, at Eagle Square, Abuja, with a ceremonial parade, tactical displays, and other events showcasing police professionalism.

Commissioner of Police Ogunbode Olufunke said, “National Police Day allows us to honor heroes who gave their lives and inspire future officers committed to service and professionalism.” She added that public engagement is central to effective policing and that the celebrations aim to build trust between the Airport Police Command and the communities they serve.

The Command confirmed all activities align with the vision of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to enhance public confidence and deepen community partnerships. Ogunbode emphasized, “This is our chance to demonstrate commitment, honor our heroes, and reinforce the values of service and trust guiding our work every day.”
