The Senate has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in its President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, during Thursday, March 13, plenary session.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) moved the motion, which was seconded by Deputy Minority Leader Olalere Oyewumi (Osun West).
The lawmakers affirmed their support for Akpabio just two days after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) accused him of orchestrating her suspension over sexual harassment allegations.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was suspended for six months without pay, recently addressed the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in New York and has filed contempt charges against Akpabio and others.
In response, the Senate dismissed the allegations and urged Nigerians to focus on governance rather than distractions. Lawmakers stressed that the matter was already in court and beyond their jurisdiction.
Citing Order 40 of its standing rules, the Senate reiterated that it could not interfere in a case under judicial review.
