Al Hilal Knocks Manchester City Out of FIFA Club World Cup

In a match brimming with drama, momentum swings, and seven unforgettable goals, Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal produced a historic upset, eliminating Manchester City to book a place in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals with a 4-3 victory after extra time.

The game, held in front of a roaring international crowd, exploded into action early when Bernardo Silva gave City the lead in the 9th minute.

His low strike from the edge of the box seemed to set the tone for what many expected to be a routine City win.

But Al Hilal had other plans.

Coming out of halftime with renewed energy, the Saudi side flipped the script with two goals in rapid succession.

Marcos Leonardo brought the sides level in the 46th minute with a sharp finish, and just six minutes later, Malcom stunned the English champions with a well-placed effort to give Hilal a 2-1 lead.

City responded in trademark fashion. Erling Haaland, always a threat, equalized in the 55th minute to force extra time after both teams failed to break the deadlock in the remainder of regulation.

The extra time delivered even more fireworks.

Kalidou Koulibaly put Al Hilal ahead again in the 94th minute with a brilliant goal.

But Phil Foden’s 104th-minute goal reignited hope for City, bringing the score to 3-3 in a back-and-forth classic.

Just when penalties seemed inevitable, Marcos Leonardo struck again in the 114th minute, completing his brace and sending Al Hilal fans into wild celebration.

Despite a late surge from City, Al Hilal held firm to clinch a famous 4-3 victory and advance to the next round of the tournament, knocking out one of the world’s most dominant clubs in the process.

This result marks a monumental moment in Al Hilal’s history and a reminder that, in football, giants can fall and heroes can rise from unexpected places.
