A yet-to-be identified member of a vigilance group was on Saturday stoned and burnt to death in Abuja for alleged blasphemy.
The incident occurred at Lugbe timber market, Abuja.
Following the incident, there was panic and confusion in the area.
Policemen deployed in the area were said to have fired gunshots and teargas to disperse the crowd that had gathered.
Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had yet to make any statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
FCT Command’s Police spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, could also not be reached.
