Alleged Fake Degree: Sack Nnaji Now to Face Prosecution — Atiku’s Aide Tells Tinubu

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Tinubu to remove the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, from office following allegations that he forged his university certificate.

The minister is accused of presenting fake documents from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the National Youth Service Corps when he was appointed in 2023.

A case filed by Nnaji against the University of Nigeria and others was expected to continue on Monday at the Federal High Court in Abuja but was adjourned after the university’s representatives failed to file their response.

The suit concerns disputes over the authenticity of Nnaji’s academic qualifications.

Reacting to the development, Ibe, in a post on X on Monday, October 6, said the President should act immediately since the university had reportedly confirmed that the certificate was forged.

He wrote, “Since the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has confirmed that Minister Uche Nnaji allegedly forged the institution’s certificate, which he presented officially for his ministerial appointment, one would have expected that President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT would have sacked him and released him for prosecution.”

The allegation has reignited discussions on ethical leadership and the need for greater accountability in public appointments.
