Alleged N3bn fraud: Labour Party National Chairman, Abure in Benin

Ben Peters, Abuja

Barrister Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has been arrested in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Viral photos circulating on social media captured the moment he was apprehended and whisked into the van by the police.

His arrest is coming against the backdrop of an alleged corruption scandal he’s involved in.

He was accused by a suspended treasurer of the Labour Party, Uche Opara, of embezzling three billion Naira party funds.

Despite the allegations, the party denied any wrongdoing on Abure’s part.

36 state chairmen of the Labour Party on Monday passed a vote of confidence in Abure.
