Almustapha Malami Appointed Head of KEBGIS Following APC Defection

In a swift administrative move, the Kebbi State Government has named Almustapha Malami younger brother to the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami as the new General Manager of the Kebbi State Geographic Information System (KEBGIS).

The announcement, which takes immediate effect, comes on the heels of Almustapha Malami’s formal entry into the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his public pledge of loyalty to Governor Nasir Idris’s 2027 ambitions.

The appointment was officially documented in a letter made available to the press on Tuesday, the 16th of December, 2025, and signed by Malami Shekare, the Kebbi State Head of Service. In the letter, the Head of Service urged the appointee to carry out his duties with diligence, professionalism and commitment, in line with the policies and objectives of the Kebbi State Government.

The correspondence specifically highlighted the strategic importance of the agency, noting: “The government expects you to bring your wealth of experience to bear in ensuring effective management of the state’s geographic information system for improved land administration and service delivery,” the letter stated.

The appointment however takes immediate effect as the head of KEBGIS, Malami will oversee the primary agency responsible for:Land Administration across the state, Mapping and surveying initiatives and Digital Land Records Management for modernization efforts.

While the development has attracted public attention due to the timing of the appointment, the Kebbi State Government has yet to issue an official response to reactions surrounding it.
