Amusan Clinches Fifth Straight 100m Hurdles Crown at National Trials

Tobi Amusan reaffirmed her dominance on Sunday, storming to her fifth consecutive national title in the women’s 100m hurdles at the national trials held at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos.

The world record-holder clocked an impressive 12.57 seconds, leaving her rivals trailing in a largely one-sided final.

Adaobi Tabugbo followed in second with 13.03 seconds, while Faith Osamuyi completed the podium in third place at 13.36 seconds.

This latest triumph continues Amusan’s unbeaten run in national competition since 2021, when she first claimed the crown during the Olympic trials in Lagos.

She has since extended her dominance with three more victories in Benin before returning to Lagos for yet another victory.

In the men’s 400m final, Gafar Badmus proved too strong for the field, crossing the line in 45.71 seconds to claim the title. Ezekiel Asuquo took second in 46.29 seconds, while David Akhalu settled for third with a time of 46.91 seconds.
