Anambra Government Urges APGA Supporters To Reject Peter Obi In 2027

The Anambra State Government has urged supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to reject the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election.

The call was made on Monday through the official X account of the state government, managed by the New Media Office of Governor Charles Soludo.

The state government accused Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, of working against APGA since leaving office, while claiming that President Bola Tinubu had supported the party.

In a graphic targeting the former governor, the government described Obi as a “betrayal” to APGA and called on the party’s supporters to defend it ahead of the 2027 elections.

“A betrayal alert for Ndi APGA. Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him,” the government stated.

It further alleged that Obi backed the opposition in 2015 despite Tinubu’s alleged support for APGA.

“In 2015, while President Tinubu stood with APGA, Obi backed the opposition to bury us,” the statement added.

The government urged APGA supporters not to be persuaded by Obi’s political campaign, calling on them to remain loyal to the party.

“Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house. Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home, resist the NDC,” it said.

Obi governed Anambra State from 2006 to 2013 under the APGA platform before subsequently joining other political parties. He is now seeking the presidency in 2027 on the NDC platform.

The latest statement adds to the growing political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly in Anambra, where APGA remains a major political force and the state government has continued to defend the party’s position.
