Anambra Police Intensify Patrols To Strengthen Security

The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up surveillance and security patrols in key locations across the state as part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety and reassure residents of the protection of their lives and property.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

According to Ikenga, the operation, which commenced on Monday, is designed to improve real-time situational awareness and strengthen intelligence-driven policing aimed at preventing criminal elements from operating anywhere in the state.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the command’s proactive security strategy to enhance rapid response, improve public confidence, and support law enforcement agencies in safeguarding lives and property.

He also stressed that the command remains committed to carrying out its constitutional duties despite the prevailing weather conditions.

The statement read, “The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property by sustaining intensified security operations across identified strategic locations in the state.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and enhance security, the Command, on July 20, 2026, continued its proactive policing strategy through enhanced visibility patrols, intelligence-led operations, confidence-building patrols, stop-and-search duties, and coordinated joint security engagements.

These measures are aimed at preventing crime, reassuring residents, and ensuring swift responses to security concerns.

“Despite the prevailing weather conditions, the Command has remained steadfast in the discharge of its constitutional mandate to protect lives and property. It also reiterates its resolve to deny criminal elements any opportunity to operate within the State.

“The Commissioner of Police assures Ndi Anambra that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders, will continue to sustain proactive security measures to maintain law and order while strengthening the safety and security of all residents.”

Ikenga also called on residents to remain alert, obey the law, and promptly report suspicious individuals, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency response channels.
